Abstract

448,524. Weighing-apparatus. BAIRD & TATLOCK (LONDON), Ltd., 14, Cross Street, Hatton Garden, and GRAINGER, H. H., 36, Clifton Gardens, Tottenham, both in London. Jan. 12, 1935, No. 1134. [Class 143] A weighing scale is provided, for counterpoising purposes, with an attachment comprising a supporting arm 10 formed as, or provided with, a clamp 12, 13 for securing to the centre pillar 14 of the balance without making any structural alterations in the latter, a graduated rotary drum 18 journalled on the supporting arm and having attached thereto one end of a chain or other flexible member 34 and an index 31. The other end of the chain is suspended from an adjustable bracket 42 on the beam. By turning a knob 26 the drum 18 is rotated to vary the pull of the chain on the beam and its counterpoising effect may be read by means of the index 31. The index 31 may be replaced by a vernier. The plane of the drum 18 may be arranged at right angles to that shown, or in an intermediate position.
