Abstract
447,729. Gas masks. HUNGARIAN RUBBER GOODS FACTORY, Ltd., 17, Kerepesi-ut, and EHRMANN, C., 5, Lendvay u., both in Budapest. Nov. 8, 1935, No. 30973. Convention date, July 10. [Class 81 (ii)] The sealing of rubber gas-masks to the face is improved by the provision, in a thickened portion on the inside edge thereof, or in a strip secured within the edge, of at least one row of a plurality of depressions. A single row of spaced rectangular depressions may be formed in a thickened edge, or as shown this row, a, may be supplemented by rows b, c of triangular depressions. The edge itself may be thicker on the inner side d than on the outer e. In another construction, several parallel ribs around the inner edges of the mask may be connected by cross ribs, which may be of less height, the higher ribs being preferably tapered toward the top The depressions may be formed in hard rubber, the ribs between them then being only a few millimetres high, or in sponge rubber covered with an air-tight skin, the depressions in this case being deeper. The depressions form suction cups which hold the mask on to the face.
