[Class 38 (iv)] [See also Group XXXVII] An inertia - operated switch comprising a pendulum 1, carrying a mass of soft iron, and a magnet 4 for holding the pendulum in the circuit-closing position after it has been brought into this position, is used in a system in which the lighting circuit of a vehicle, including lamps 17 and a battery 16, is automatically controlled by a lightsensitive relay 15. When the vehicle is driven into a garage, the switch 1, 4 is opened by hand, but it closes automatically and puts the circuit under the control of the relay 15, when the vehicle is driven out of the garage.
