Abstract
445,767. Snap-action switches. WALLIS, H. S., K.1, Raleigh Street, St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia. Sept. 10, 1934, No. 25994. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Groups XI and XXIX] The supply of water through sinuous passages 49 containing electric heating elements is controlled by a main valve 23' operated simultaneously with the switch controlling the heating elements. A sleeve 66 forming the hub of the rotary quick break switch has end clutch members 64, 67 adapted to engage corresponding members 63, 68. The member 63 forms part of a screwed sleeve 62 fixed to the valve spindle, and the member 68 is adjustably secured to the valve spindle. A plate 88 carrying the moving contact arms 89 of the switch is secured to a guide plate having radial slots in which engage lugs 82 on a strap on an eccentric sheave secured to the hub 66. A coiled spring 96 engaging an upstanding plate secured to the contact plate 88 give the moving contact a snap action. In place of the clutch, the switch hub may be rotated by a radial pin on the valve spindle engaging upper and lower projections on a collar secured to the hub.
