Abstract

445,059. Typewriters. PAILLARD & CIE, SOC. ANON., E., Yverdon, Vaud, Switzerland. Jan. 29, 1935, No. 2949. Convention date, July 30, 1934. [Class 100 (iv)] Portable type-lever machines.- Framework comprising relatively adjustable front and rear parts, supporting the action and paper-carriage respectively, is attached to a base which completely closes the machine at the bottom and is provided with a detachable cover for the machine. The framework of the machine shown in the Figure comprises front and rear members 1, 53 which support the action and paper - carriage respectively and are adjustably connected by means of screws 2 passing through slots 3. The members are provided with cross-bars 8, 10, 12. A base 93, formed with a rim 30, is secured to the members 1, 53 by means of screws 94, 95. When transported in vertical position, the machine rests on the screws 94 or 95. A cover 97 is provided at the rear with slots for engaging the screws 94, and at the front with a handle, and pivoted hooks 99 for engaging the screws 95. The cover fits snugly, and prevents movement of the typelevers 37, paper-carriage 54, and other parts during transport of the machine. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also subject-matter relating to a carriage-mounting, a ruling-device, escapement, back-spacing, ink-ribbon, and accenting mechanism, and a type-lever action. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted but is now contained in Specifications 445,079, 445,080, and 445,081.
