Abstract

444,795. Mixing-machines. TARMAC, Ltd., and WATSON, R., Ettingshall Works, Wolverhampton. Sept. 17, 1935, No. 25740. [Class 86] Mixing-machines for road materials comprise a trough in which are mounted rotary stirrers driven from a motor, the shafts of the stirrers being fitted with means for driving supporting wheels for transporting the machine. The machine comprises a frame carried on rail wheels 15 and supporting the mixing trough in which the mixing shafts 7 work, the bearings 38 for the mixing shafts being outside the trough. The shafts are fitted with blades 43, Fig. 4, carried on pairs of arms 42 bolted to a central shaft 41 and fitted with spacers 46, and are driven, by gears 30 thereon, through reduction gearing 27, 26 from a pulley 24 driven from a motor 18. The mixing shafts are fitted with clutches 50, 55 selectively operated from a hand wheel 63 and through which the rail wheels may be driven for transporting the machine. The trough is fitted with a pivoted charging hopper 31 and is discharged through pivoted doors in the base operated by levers 35.
