Abstract

444,647. Automatic mouth-organs. PULLEN, H., Lednum Apartments, Easton, Maryland, U.S.A. Oct. 12, 1934, No. 29259. [Glass 88 (i)] A mouth-organ controlled by a tune-sheet moved in either direction by hand-cranks, is enclosed in a casing, the cover of which is arched as at 14 to provide a resonance chamber with sound outlets 14a at the ends. The mouth-organ with reeds 24 is mounted within a tubular housing 16, being held pressed upwards against a slotted cork gasket 26 by a spring plate 19. The housing 16 is closed at its ends by inwardly dished plates 27 which are drawn by screws 17 into flat sealing contact with the outer casing 11. The housing 16 near one end has a mouthpiece 22 which projects through the outer casing 11 and enables air to be blown or drawn through the reeds. The spools 32, 33 are pressed by springs at one end against bushings at the other end, whereby they are frictionally retarded.
