Abstract
444,311. Casks. AKT.-GES. FUR HOLZVEREDLUNG, 11, Lowenstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. Nov. 27, 1935, Nos. 32925, 32926, and 32927. Convention dates, Dec. 2, 1934. [Class 21] A barrel of the kind in which the ends 2, 3, Fig. 1, are held by pressure rings 4, 4<1> connected by tie rods 5 are provided with packing chambers containing packing rings 6 so arranged that the pressure to which they can be subjected cannot rise above a certain amount. The rings may have webs to engage the outer faces of the ends and may have holes to receive the tie rods, the nuts of which may be received in recesses in the rings. The tie rods may be secured against displacement by bands 9 attached to them or by an angle ring 17, Fig. 2, fitted to one end of the body and welded to the rods. An outer covering, Fig. 4, of plywood may be fitted round the rods. A further alternative is shown in Fig. 3. The rods 5 may have side teeth which bite into the wall of the cask.
