Abstract

443,522. Shearing. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Feb. 8, 1935, No. 4106. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1934. [Class 83 (iv)] In shears for cutting moving material a control carriage 30, clutched to a lead screw 27 actuated by the blade drum 2 and adjusted to the length to be cut, actuates at the end of its forward stroke a cam disc 10 to effect operation of the blades. In operation, the end of the bar strikes a lever 55 and through a circuit energizes a magnet 32 to clutch the carriage 30 to the screw 27. At the end of the movement in the direction X, the carriage displaces a lever 42, energizes a magnet 16 and lifts a head 19 to allow a spring 13 to engage a cam disc 10 with a rotating shaft 9. Cam disc 10, Fig. 4, rotates to throw levers 62, 67 into the path of pivoted blades 57, 58 on blade drum 2. A rod 36 on the carriage is displaced by stop 90 to de-energize magnet 32 and a mass 46 restores the carriage to normal position. The magnet 16 is de-energized and the head. 19 drops. A cam surface 17 disengages the clutch and a bolt 22 engages a groove 15 to lock the clutch. At the end of the return movement of the carriage 30 it strikes a stop 89 to again energize the magnet 32 and clutch the carriage to the lead screw for the next operation.
