Abstract

442,406. Coin-freed article-delivery apparatus. JONNERET, F., (trading as JONNERET FILS AINE), Chemin de la Graviere, Queue d'Arve, and SCHOCH, A., 12, Rue Bergalonne, both in Geneva, Switzerland. June 20, 1935, No. 17715. Convention date, May 31. [Class 27] Returning coin.-In an electrically operated coin-freed article-delivery apparatus having a coin tester 72 and a return shoot 74 for rejected coins, a bolt 70 is normally held by an electromagnet 78 out of a shoot 28 leading to the releasing mechanism actuated by the coin, but, if the current fails, or the machine becomes empty, or the delivery slide fails to act through articles jamming, the electromagnet 78 becomes de-energized and the bolt 70 enters the shoot 28 to divert coins to the return shoot 74. The bolt 70 is carried by one arm 75 of a bell-crank lever, the other arm 77 of which is normally attracted by the electromagnet 78. In the circuit of the electromagnet 78 is arranged a normally closed mercury switch 79, the circuit being completed through an automatic switch 85. Delivery of articles stored in piles.-The bottom article 3 of a pile in a magazine 4 is delivered by a slide 7 attached to a guide 8 which is carried by the cores 12 of a solenoid 13, 14, the guide moving over a rod 10 against the action of a spring 11 when the solenoid is energized by a coin passing down the shoot 28 to cause delivery. The circuit of the solenoid is completed through the automatic switch 85 and, if the slide jams, the switch 85 heats up and breaks the circuit of the electromagnet 78. If the magazine 4 becomes empty, a projection 83 on a following weight 84 tilts a bell-crank lever 80, 82 carrying the mercury switch 79 to break the circuit of the electromagnet 78. Coin action, weight.-The coin passing down the shoot 28 hits one arm 56 of a bell-crank lever to move the other arm 59 momentarily out of the path of a pivoted arm 51 carrying a mercury switch 50. This switch drops and closes the circuit of the solenoid 13, 14. A projection 61 from the delivering slide 7 meets, as it moves forward, an arm 52 and returns the switch 50 to its initial position where it is again held by the catch 55. Fraud preventing.-To prevent fraud by obstructing the return shoot 74, its outlet 73 is closed by a cage 86 provided with a transparent flap 87 which can only be moved inwardly to obtain a rejected coin. This inward movement prevents access to the outlet 73.
