Abstract
441,972. Impact pulverizers. HARDINGE CO., Inc., 122, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Hardinge, H.) May 3, 1935, No. 13284. Convention date, May 16, 1934. [Class 59] In an ore-reducing machine in which a revolvable drum carrying buckets drops ore onto a stationary impact medium in the bottom of the drum, a screen or grizzly is provided within the drum to intercept the material first discharged from the buckets and to separate the fines from the coarser particles, the fines being diverted out of the drum to a classifier which rejects the coarser particles back to the drum. As shown a drum 11 comprising a peripheral plate 12 and annular end plates 13, 14 is provided with elevating buckets formed by plates 16 and inwardly directed plates 22 at the outlet to restrict the opening. The drum is mounted on wheels 37 carried by limbs 27, which are anchored by bolts 41 to beams 39 through rubber pads 44. The centre link 28 is slotted to engage an upstanding guide 43. The drum is driven by an endless chain 46 engaging a toothed wheel formed on the drum. Four inclined impact plates 61 receive the ore dropped from the buckets. The ore is fed to the drum by a hopper and is discharged by classifying the excess ore falling from the buckets onto a grizzly 65. The grizzly is pivoted at 70 to move upwardly if struck by a projecting piece of ore carried by a bucket. The grizzly is perforated so that fines pass into a pipe 72 and are led into an inclined classifier 75 which may be of the kind described in Specification 389,338, whilst the coarse material falls off the grizzly into the bottom buckets. The classifier 75 is rotated by a motor 88 and is provided with helical ribs 81, the coarse material being discharged at the elevated end into a discharge conduit 78 for return to the buckets whilst the fines are discharged with the water into a launder 80.
