441,550. Cutting web material. LAVENDER, F. H. R., and VOUCHER,' Ltd., 65, Bridge Street, Walsall, Staffordshire, and LAMSON PARAGON SUPPLY CO., Ltd., Queen's House, Kingsway, London. July 19, 1934, No. 21075. [Class 31 (i)] [See also Group XVII] A holder for rolls of paper &c. is provided with means for cutting the paper into lengths comprising a carrier 32 slidable on a rod 30 and provided with a cutting disc 34 which co-operates with a slot 27 in a support 25. The paper passes from a roll 18 between rollers 38, 39 bearing in slots 40 in brackets 22 and urged by gravity to grip the paper, and thence to the cutter 34 which is provided with flanges, shoulders, or collars 36 extending from each side to grip the paper during cutting by cooperation with the support 25. Thr rod 30 bears in elongated holes 31 in the brackets 22 to allow the cutter 34 to be moved down to the paper. The roll 18 may be supported by brackets 10 fixed to a horizontal base 11a and provided with bearings 16 for the roll and arms 15 carrying a presser bar 19. Alternatively, the brackets 10 may be fixed to a vertical base, the arms 15 being turned through 90‹ so that the bar 19 is over the roll ; the cutter brackets 22 are then fixed to an L-shaped bracket secured to the same base as the brackets 10.
