[Class 87 (i)] [See also Group V] A covering for walls, floors, ceilings, and the like, which comprises a plurality of independent units 13 of plastic material moulded on to a common substratum of metal or textile fabric 14, is formed by casting plastic material in a mould having a number of compartments, pressing the fabric 14 into the plastic material and against the upper edges of the separating walls of the mould, and scraping off any of the plastic material which penetrates through the fabric. The units 13 may be of hexagonal shape in plan, with bevelled edges, as shown in plan in Fig. 1, or they may be square and have bevelled edges. In another form, the units are rectangular in plan, as shown in Fig. 4, and have curved surfaces. A preferred composition for the units comprises 3000 to 4500 parts by weight of calcined magnesia, 100 to 450 parts of titanium oxide, 1000 to 2000 parts of calcium chloride, 50 to 300 parts of talc, 100 to 3000 parts of sand, and 300 to 450 parts of fireclay. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a ceiling covering comprising plastic elements 13 and a backing 14, as shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
