May 31, 1934, No. 16270. [Class 75 (ii)] A lantern employing a high power lamp has its normally upper glazed part formed by a pair of parallel glass panels 6, 7 arranged at an inclination to the horizontal so that a current of cooling air is induced to flow between them. With this construction, the protected or inner panel may be of heat resisting glass, while the outer panel 7, by reason of its relatively low temperature, may be of ordinary commercial glass to suit the optical effect desired and is, moreover, not likely to be damaged by heavy rain &c.
