Abstract
437,153. Concrete-mixers. PARKER, Ltd., F., and PARKER, F. W., Catherine Street Extension, Leicester. Jan. 5, 1935, No. 437. [Class 86] In a concrete-mixer in which the operation of the pivoted loading shoot effects the supply of a definite amount of water to the drum, the water is supplied from a tank which discharges by tipping about a longitudinal axis, the tank being also pivotally movable about an external transverse axis against the influence of a counterweight to control a valve which charges the tank. As shown, the mixer has a tilting drum mounted between frame members 1, Fig. 2, and the water supply is mounted between cheeks 11, 12 carried therby. The tank 15 is supported by bearings 17, 18, the former being carried by a counterweighted lever 19, Fig. 1, while the latter is carried by a hollow tube 23 which serves as the water supply and is pivoted at 24 to the cheek 12. The tank is tilted by means of a link 36 operated by an arm 35 on the shaft 10 on which the charging shoot 9 is mounted, and discharges into a fixed shoot 32 leading in turn to the mouth of the drum. The tank is filled from a branch 26 fitted with a valve 27 controlled by a lever 29 adapted to abut against an adjustable stop 30. When the tank is empty the counterweighted arm 19 lifts it about the pivot 24 and allows the valve 27 to open. As the tank fills it falls and the valve is shut by the engagement of the abutment 30 with the valve lever 29. A spring 41 is provided between the tank and the cheek 11 to ensure that the tank does not lift about the pivot 24 till it has been tipped back to its filling position.
