Abstract

436,963. Dolls. BRITISH XYLONITE CO., Ltd., Hale End, London, and SNELL, S. W., Sylvera, High Road, Woodford Green, Essex. April 21, 1934, No. 12037. [Class 132 (iii)] A doll's face comprises a mask D of celluloid, non - inflammable celluloid, or like plastic material having eye-holes in it, a casing B of tubular form of the same material or some similar plastic material as the mask and fused or stuck to the mask by the flange C, and a glass eye A rigidly fixed in the casing B by cement or glue. The flange C causes a slight sinking of the eye which reduces the staring appearance. In a modified construction the eye A may be inserted in the casing B so that it engages the flange C, and a portion of the other end of the casing B may be turned or moulded inwardly so as to engage the back of the eye. The interior surface of the mask may be formed with one or more guides to assist in the accurate positioning of the casing B. When plastic materials are employed which can readily be rendered workable by heating to a temperature which is unlikely to injure the glass eye, the casing may be fused in position by a moulding tool.
