Abstract
434,652. Gems. BAYARDI BROS., Inc., 21, West 46th Street, New York, U.S.A., LARTER & SONS, 88, Parkhurst Street, Newark, and SCHUETZ, G. A., 94, Pine Street, Maplewood, both in New Jersey, U.S.A. March 6, 1935, No. 7064. Convention date, March 6, 1934. [Class 43] The crown of a gem has a pair of converging end facets 3 joined by a number of elongated plane side facets 1, mutually inclined so that the cross-section is approximately a convex arc, preferably less than a semicircle, and a polyhedral base having two flat converging, roughly trapezoidal end faces E, joined by mutually inclined surfaces 5. The facets 1 are inclined to the girdle plane at angles between 50 and 20‹, the facets 5 are inclined to the plane at angles from 60 to 35‹, the facets 3 at angles from 50 to 70‹, and the facets E at angles from 30 to 50‹. The greatest thickness of the crown normal to the girdle plane is less than that of the base. The surface of the crown approximates to the surface of a cylinder, but in a modification, Fig. 7, it approximates to that of a cone.
