Abstract

520,583. Jewellery. BAKER & CO. Oct. 25, 1938, No. 30805. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1937. [Class 43] A gem setting comprises a base having inclined upper reflecting surfaces 11, Fig 1, and provided at the centre thereof with a recess or aperture 12 to receive the apex of the stone 14 which is secured by prongs 13 extending upwardly from the base and engaging the girdle. The prongs 13 are arcuate. The recess 12 communicates with an upwardly-conical recess 15. Fig. 7 shows a modification in which the apex of the stone engages a downwardly-conical aperture in the base 20 and is held by four prongs 23. The reflecting surface may be provided with facets.
