[Class 7 (iv)] The central electrode is enclosed in mica and quartz sleeves 3, 4 respectively, and secured in a ceramic insulator 2 embedded in a flanged metal sleeve 9. Ceramic insulation also surrounds the lower part of the quartz sleeve between the flanges on the sleeve 9 and the electrode. The cavity 6 may be filled with cement. Instead of having a flange at the inner end of the sleeve 9, the casing 10 may be formed with a supporting flange or shoulder.
