Abstract

433,357. Valve-gear for pneumatic hammers. ELOY, F., 1, Rue de Pitteurs, Liege, Belgium. Nov. 20, 1934, No. 33350. Convention date, March 1. [Class 122 (ii)] A combined disc and piston valve is arranged in a chest at the end of the cylinder. The disc controls the admission to the two ends of the cylinder, and the piston valve which constitutes a hub to the disc controls an auxiliary exhaust from one or both ends of the cylinder. The peripheral edge of the disc engages the chamber and separates the fluid supplied to the ends of the tool. The main exhaust is controlled by the piston. The valve is reversed by compression on the piston back stroke and by release on the forward stroke. The fluid supply 25 communicates with both sides of the valve by passages 19, 20 in the chest 3 which is held on the end of the cylinder by the screwed-on head 1. The valve-chest communicates with the cylinder ends by passages 18, 15. The auxiliary exhaust chamber 5, 5<1> communicate by ports 6, 6<1> with an annular recess 7 open through a passage 8 to the atmosphere. The hub ends 21, 21<1> controls grooves 11, 11<1> which communicate with the cylinder ends by conduits 9, 12 and with the atmosphere through the ends 5, 5<1>. The valve may have a central through passage, and one of the passages 6, 6<1> may be dispensed with. In a modification, the valve is of mushroom shape with the flat face forward ; the auxiliary exhaust is provided at the forward end only.
