Abstract
432,502. Nailing. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., RICKS, F., and ELLIOTT, H. E., Union Works, Belgrave Road, Leicester. Jan. 29, 1934, No. 2915. [Class 89 (iii)] Relates to rotaryshear slugging and like machines, and consists in actuating mechanism for the shearing and transferring die comprising two toggles which are straightened respectively when the die is in slug-receiving and slug-driving positions, together with means for adjusting the die at the two said positions. The diecarrier 1 with die 2 is carried by a rotary sleeve 3 which has a forked arm 5 pivoted to a link 9 pivoted to one arm 11 of a bellcrank lever 13. The second arm 31 of the latter is connected by a link 33 to one arm 35 of a bell-crank lever 37, the other arm 51 of which is connected by a link 53 to a cam-lever 55. The elements 9, 11 and 33, 35 form toggles which are straightened alternately, by operation of the cam-lever 55, to impart the requisite movements to the die 2. The bell-crank lever 13 is pivoted on an eccentric sleeve 15, adjustment of which by an arm 19, when the toggle 9, 11 is straightened, serves to adjust the die 2 in slug-receiving position. Similarly, the lever 37 is pivoted on an eccentric portion of a shaft 41, adjustment of which serves to adjust the die 2 in slug-driving position.
