Abstract

In making orthopaedic footwear the sensitive parts of the foot are marked out with colour, and a plaster of Paris bandage is applied to the foot in which negative, after removal, a positive is cast to which the coloured markings are transferred. Corrections are then made by reducing or enlarging the coloured parts and a boot or shoe is made directly on this positive. After the bandage has been applied the foot may be weighted as in walking so that it assumes a natural position.
