Abstract

6 - Methoxy - 6<1> - ethoxythioindigo is prepared by p condensing a 2-derivative of 6-ethoxy-2 : 3 - diketodihydrothionaphthene with 6 - methoxy - 3 - hydroxythionaphthene or by condensing a 2-derivative of 6-methoxy-2 : 3-diketodihydrothionaphthene with 6 - ethoxy - 3 - hydroxythionaphthene. In an example, the condensation is effected in chlorbenzene. It dyes more reddish shades than 6 : 6<1>-diethoxythioindigo. The ester salts of its leuco compound are mentioned.
