Abstract

429,636. Ophthalmoscopes. TURVILLE, A. E., 108, Abingdon Street, Northampton ; and ELLIS, F. S. B., GLASSCOCK, C. E. W., and MAXWELL, E. H., (trading as ELLIS OPTICAL CO.), Optical Works, Mayday Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. Jan. 30, 1934, No. 3154. [Class 97 (i)] In an ophthalmoscope, the observer's eyepiece and the reflector for bending the beam of light from the light source on to the patient's eye are adjustable laterally relatively to the axis of the light beam. In the form shown a frame 1 carrying the inclined holder for an apertured mirror 3 and suitable eyepiece lenses is pivoted together with a rotatable lens carrying disc 17 on a pin 14 carried by the condenser lens tube 4. The latter is secured by a screw 13 on a tubular lamp socket 5 on a cap 6 closing the top of a tubular holder 7 for a battery. The condenser lenses may be adjusted axially to vary the nature of the light beam by a pin 12. A slotted lug 15 on the frame 1 enables the latter to be adjusted to move the mirror 3 and eyepiece to one side or the other of the light beam from the tube 4 so that the patient's eye may be viewed other than along the axis of the reflected beam of light. A clamping screw 16 passes through the slot in the lug 15.
