Abstract

427,397. Brackets. REES, M., 8a, Hackford Road, Brixton, London, COLEMAN, W., The Lindens, Stoughton Road, and COLEMAN, E., 38, Leicester Road, both in Oadby, Leicester. Oct. 14, 1933, No. 28491. [Class 52 (v)] In adjustable brackets for supporting shelves in shop windows of the kind comprising a locating pin or stud a<2> adapted to enter a hole b<1> in an upright b and an abutment or gripping member a<4> adapted to engage the upright, the bracket being turned upwardly to enable it to be disengaged from the upright, the pin and the abutment are located approximately in the longitudinal axis of the bracket so as to enable a number of such brackets to be mounted on the support in close proximity. The bracket comprises a metal strip twisted and bent at the forward end to form a stop a' for the shelf, provided with side projections a<5>, and bent at a<3> to encircle the rear and sides of the upright b. The part a<3> is cut at an angle to enable the pin a<2> to be withdrawn when the bracket is inclined upwardly. A further abutment or gripping member may be provided below the pin to engage the front of the upright, and the abutments may be adjustably mounted on the bracket. In a modification, the bracket is bent up out of stout wire, the ends of the wire forming the stop a<1> and the pin a<2>, while a horizontal S-bend in the wire forms a lateral support for the shelf.
