Abstract

425,006. Coin-freed table game apparatus. MILLEDGE, S. Z., Taunton Farm, Taunton Lane, Old Coulsdon, Surrey. Sept. 3, 1934, No. 25352. [Class 132 (ii)] [See also Group XVIII] In table games wherein discs or like flat elements are slid over a horizontal scoring board, a transparent window is disposed above the board and spaced therefrom just sufficiently to permit free passage of the playing elements. The apparatus may be coin-freed, in which case the board and window are pivoted about their combined rear edge, and, may be raised about this pivot so that played elements slide from the board into a receptacle from which they may be discharged for further play. The playing board comprises a main member 15 and side scoring members 16 secured to a base 17, the board and the glass window 19 being pivoted at 18 to a casing 10 mounted on a support 11. The playing elements are projected as in shovehalfpenny from the front end 21 of the board which projects beyond the front end of the window, and are secured for replay by tilting the board about the axis 18, the discs falling into a shoot 22 the bottom of which is cushioned to prevent damage to the discs and is shaped so that the discs will be returned by gravity through a slot 25 to a tray 26. Coin-freed mechanism. At each tilting movement of the board a spring 29 connected thereto at 30 rocks a rod 27 to the left to uncover the slot 25 and also advance a ratchet wheel 34 one tooth. The ratchet also coacts with a weighted detent 35 pivoted at 36, which, after a predetermined number of steps by the rod 27, engages a stop tooth 41 to look the wheel. On the next tilting movement of the board the discs fall into the shoot 22 but are prevented by the rod 27 from passing to the tray 26. To release the rod, a coin is inserted in a slot 40, and, falling down the channel 39 impinges on a projection 43 rigid with the detent 35, rocking the latter to release the wheel 34 which is immediately advanced by the rod 27, the coin falling into a box 12. In another construction the coinfreed mechanism is arranged to prevent the board from being raised until a coin is inserted. A counting mechanism preferably actuated by the wheel 34 may be provided for counting the coins. The wheel 34 may be replaced by a member capable of angular or sliding movement.
