Abstract
424,376. Roasting ores; rotary furnaces. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Feb. 14, 1934, No. 4909. Convention date, Feb. 15, 1933. [Class 51 (ii)] In the roasting of zinc blende and other sulphides in a rotary furnace the material is first treated in a thick layer which extends over the greater part of the length of the furnace, air being supplied to effect the preliminary roasting, and then passes to a zone where the furnace consists of a number of parallel chambers so that the charge is subdivided into several streams of reduced depth. The air supply passage 4 preferably passes centrally through the final roasting zone, and the subdivision may be effected by radial partitions or by a number of tubular conduits. Specifications 16410/88, 2736/95, [both in Class 51], and 215,745, [Class 51 (ii)], are referred to.
