Abstract

423,093. Power-generating systems. MARGUERRE, F., 32, Augusta-Anlage, Mannheim, Germany. April 13, 1933, Nos. 36878/34 and 334/35. Convention dates, April 15, 1932 and Sept. 27, 1932. Divided out of 423,025. [Classes 110 (i) and 122 (iii)] Comprises a method of storage and utilization of energy by utilizing external energy to drive through an electrical machine MG, acting as a motor, a compressor C which draws in steam by evaporation of water supplied to a constant pressure or displacement accumulator VS and compresses and delivers it to an upper water-andsteam drop accumulator OS from which steam is drawn off to drive a turbine which drives the machine MG, acting as a generator, the exhaust steam of the turbine being utilized to heat the accumulator VS. Two devices V<1>, V<2> arranged in series act as evaporators for the compressors C, or as condensers for the turbine T. The compressor has multiple inlets V<3>, V<4> and multiple outlets F<1>, F<2>, F<3> and the contents are cooled by a series of sprays controlled by a cock C<2>. The steam from the compressor is passed through a heat-exchange apparatus U<1> through which liquid with a higher boiling point than water is circulated from a superheat accumulator U<1>S. In a modification, the heat-exchange may take place in the accumulator U<1>S. The stored heat superheats the steam on its way to the turbine. The lostenergy heat due to friction, &c., is eliminated by an auxiliary turbine a. Part of the condenser circulating-water passes through a cooling-tower KT. The part a may be cut out of action by shutting off the cooling water to the condenser. In a construction with separate evaporators and condensers associated with the compressor and turbine respectively, the lostenergy heat is removed by a cooler placed between the bottom of the accumulator US and the evaporators or condensers. Specification 423,025 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes the use of an upper accumulator working on the circulatory or displacement principle, and the use of solid bodies, such as metals or ceramic substances, for the storage of the superheat. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
