Abstract

422,348. Teats for feeding bottles. GRAY, K. H., 25, Kiln Road, Fareham, Hampshire. July 10, 1933, No. 19486. [Class 125 (i)] The teat of a feeding- bottle is formed with a slit 5 for the delivery of the contents, such slit being formed generally circumferentially of the teat and preferably situated near the closed end of the teat in the straight portion thereof or adjacent the position where the straight portion merges into the rounded tip. The slit functions as a valve and allows free flow of liquid only when the walls of the teat are deformed or displaced, and the liquid supply may be regulated by rotating the teat to vary the position of the slit relative to the mouth of the user. The position of the slit may be indicated by a mark on that part of the teat which does not enter the mouth; the sides of the slit may be straight or inclined.
