Abstract
418,413. Telegraphy. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.- (Assignees of Callahan, J. L. ; 2011, Newkirk Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, and Mathes, R. E. ; 755, Belvidere Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey, both in U.S.A.) Feb. 16, 1934, No. 5234. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1933. [Class 40 (iii).] Signals received from a start-stop transmitter are relayed into a multiplex distributer through storing-condensers and a pair of independentlystarted start-stop distributers. Successive impulses, as distinct from successive groups of impulses, are assigned to different channels. The multiplex sending-on distributer (not shown) is fed via line 37, by distributer cams 41 driven from the same shaft 26 through friction-clutch or like mechanism, and geared so that the impulses occupy one 7-baud channel in the multiplex transmission. The shaft 28, on the other hand, is geared so that the receiving- distributer cam-set 40 runs 7 per cent faster than the simplex start-stop signals fed to it by relay 20. Of these, the groups of five character impulses are stored in condensers C until taken off by distributer 41. The stop signal leaves magnet 34 released. The start signal from relay 20 energizes magnet 34 and thus releases shaft 28 for one revolution. during which contact 1 is moved to the right ; camwheel 18 later completes at 19 the circuit of magnet 35 which releases cam-shaft 31 at the right moment. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the cam-sets 40, 41 are replaced by fixed distributer faces co-operating with startstop wipers.
