Abstract

414,870. Linear - dimension gauges. TRUSSED CONCRETE STEEL CO., Ltd., and GREEN, W. A., Thames House, Millbank, London. May 26, 1933, No. 15296. [Class 106 (ii).] Comprises a particular construction of deflection measuring gauge of the kind in which two bars are guided to slide over each other, the relative movement being indicated. Two bars a, a<1> are each fitted with metal clips or guides b which extend over the sides of the other. The bars are drawn together by diagonally disposed springs c the bar a<1> being provided with a stop d against which the clip b is drawn by the springs which are still under tension in the zero ' position. Between the flat sides is located an arbor e upon which a supporting device f is floatingly mounted, this device being provided with a projection g adapted to engage the outside plane surface of the bar a<1>. The device f carries a scale h over which moves a pointer i fixed to the arbor e. A scale l allows of a coarse reading being taken against the edge of the guide b. In use, for testing the deflection of a floor under load the device is placed between this floor and a a lower one, extensions j, j<1> being clamped to the bars if necessary. When the upper floor is loaded the bars are slid over each other and the pointer i indicates the amount.
