Abstract
414,609. Delivering measured quantities of granular materials; feeding- devices. LEHMANN, F. B., 108, Freibergerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. March 10, 1934, No. 7701. Convention date, March 11, 1933. [Class 106 (v).] A device for regulating the outflow of granular material, beans and the like from drying apparatus comprises a rocking valve 3 having a passage 4 which is caused to move to and fro past an outlet 6 so that dried material fills the passage when it approaches its end positions, moving away from the outlet in either direction, and the material is discharged when on the return movement the passage is placed in communication with the outlet. The drying apparatus comprises a casing 1 provided with tiers of baffles 2 arranged in staggered formation so that material fed in at the top takes a zig-zag downward course. The outflow through the gaps between the baffles of the bottom row is controlled by valves 3 discharging into a bin from which the material is removed by a worm conveyer 7. The valves are rocked by means of a pulley 8, worm 9, worm wheel 10, rod 11, and rack 12, the latter engaging pinions on the valves.
