413,584. Hygrometric apparatus. BRISTOL'S INSTRUMENT CO., Ltd., 144, Pomeroy Street, New Cross, London.- (Assignees of Bristol, H. R.) Jan. 19, 1934, No. 1936. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1933. [Class 97 (iii).] A strip of hygroscopic material in arched conformation has its ends pivoted to a non-hygroscopic block and is adapted to change its curvature with variations in humidity. The hygroscopic element may comprise a strip of wood freed from sap, compressed, and cut with the fibres parallel to the shortest dimension and with the length of the strip parallel to or at right angles to the radius of the growth rings. In the form shown the strip 13 is pivoted at 14 and 15 to a block 12 fixed by a bracket 11 to the base plate 10. A link 21 is connected at one end to the centre of the strip 13 and at the other end to a bell crank 22, one arm 23 of which forms a pointer moving over the scale 24.
