Abstract

413,163. Nail files. HALL, F. M., Rutland Lodge, Waterloo Road, Southampton. Oct. 26, 1933, No. 29681. [Class 131.] Nail files comprise a pair of resilient blades 1, 2, relatively disposed in U or V formation and having abrasive surfaces on their inner faces. The blades may be formed by a strip of spring steel, preferably having an intermediate arcuate portion 3, or may be connected by a preferably resilient bridge-piece. The abrasive surfaces may be constituted by teeth cut in the blades or abrasive material or abrasive-carrying material applied thereto. The blades are preferably curved outwardly towards the free ends and their outer surfaces are roughened to form finger grips. One blade is provided with a nailcleaning point 4 and the other with a cuticledepressing surface 5. In use the nail is placed between the blades and both sides filed simultaneously by a circular or reciprocating motion to obtain a rounded or a pointed shape. Two or more appliances such as above may be combined, the abrasive surfaces preferably having different degrees of coarseness ; for example two pairs of blades may be mounted back to back.
