Abstract

411,842. Feeding - appliances for birds ; housings for birds; apparatus for use with racing pigeons. WYNDHAM, H., Rosemary, Copse Road, Cobham, Surrey. Dec. 13, 1932, No. 35296. [Classes 5 (i) and 5 (ii).] A housing for pigeons and other birds, particularly racing pigeons, comprises an opening for the entrance and exit of the birds and a counter-balanced alighting board 3 pivotally mounted in front of said housing and adapted, on the alighting of a bird, to operate an alarm signal and simultaneously operate a valve allowing a quantity of food to pass from a storage box 5 located beneath the board 3 into said housing. The board 3 may be counterbalanced by means of an adjustable counterweight 4 or by means of a spring, and engages a roller 11 on a rod 10 secured to a lever 8 the other end of which is connected to a spring controlled rod 12 carrying shutters 13, 15 forming a valve for delivering a measured quantity of food from the box 5, the floor 16 of which is aligned with shoots 17, 7. A contact member carried by the rod 12 coacts with a spring- controlled contact carried by the box to operate an electric bell on depression of the board 3.
