Abstract

411,264. Coin-freed liquid-delivering apparatus. SCHARF, L., 1, I Stubenbastei, Vienna, Austria. March 28, 1933, Nos. 9375 and 9376. Convention dates, April 11, 1932 and March 11, 1933. [Class 27.] In a coin-freed liquid-dispensing machine in which the measuring-vessel 10, Fig. 1, is carried by a counterpoised balance beam 7 and is raised, after insertion of a coin, to open an inlet valve 15, the weight of liquid, when the vessel is full, causing it to descend to close the inlet and open a discharge valve 19, the counterpoise 6 for the measuring-vessel 10 is carried in a swing 5 pivoted at 4 to a link 7<a> adjustable with respect to the balance beam 7 by a set screw 27. Normally when the vessel 10 is empty, the counterpoise 6 is held by a catch 3 in its forward position and the valve 19 in the bottom of the vessel 10 is open. The catch 3 is tripped by insertion of a coin and the weight 6 swings back against an adjustable stop 28 on the beam thereby causing the vessel to rise and open the valve 15 by a forked member 14. Liquid flows into the vessel from a storage tank 17 and when its weight overbalances the counterpoise 6, the vessel descends allowing the valve 15 to close. The weight 6 swings forwardly thus accelerating the downward movement and is caught again by the catch 3. The valve 19 is opened by meeting a fixed member 22 and the liquid is discharged through a pipe 23 to a container 34 in a compartment 58 closed by a glass door 59 which remains locked until the container is part filled. The door is raised by a pin 60 thereon being engaged by a lever 61 actuated by a hand lever 53, and is locked by the hooked arm 65 of a pivoted catch 62 engaging a hole 66. The container 34 rests on arms extending from the catch 62 through slots 69 in a holder 63 and is counterbalanced by a weight 64. When it is partly full, the catch 62 is tilted to release the door. Coin action, weight.-A coin inserted in a shoot 1 tilts by weight a lever 2 to release the catch 3. Delivering of articles stored in pile.-The containers 34 are stored in a magazine 31 to which are pivoted two pairs of arresting levers 32, 33 forming an escapement for releasing the bottom container, when a coin is inserted. The levers are controlled by a pair of plates 37 pivoted to a bracket 38 by a pin 39 carrying a ratchet wheel 55. When the handle 53 is actuated to give acess to a filled container in the compartment 58, an arm 54 thereon engages an extension 52 on one of the plates 37 thereby raising the plates and tensioning a spring 51. The plates are held raised by a pawl 56 engaging the ratchet wheel 55 and the levers 33 are pressed, against the action of springs, by the plates when in this position into engagement with the brim of the bottom container. The movement of the beam 7, after insertion of coin, through a link 57 releases the pawl 56 and allows the plates 37 to be returned by the spring 51. This causes the levers 33 to release the bottom container and the levers 32 to engage the brim of the container next to the bottom. The bottom container is pushed down by spring controlled levers 48 carried by a ring 46 which is connected by links 45 to the plates 37. The released container drops to the holder 63.
