[Class 51 (ii).] In the clay gun for plugging furnace tapholes according to the parent Specification, the beam 15 from which the gun 8 is suspended by arms 19, 20, is pivoted to the lower end of a vertical pin 9 carrying a slidable sleeve 10 which is connected by a link 16 to the beam 15 and by a pair of links 14 to members 12 fast on the shaft 2. The latter is rotatable in bearings carried by the swinging framework of the gun mounting and has a crank 3 fitted with rollers 4 engaging the upper and lower surfaces of a guide rail 7 which may be adjusted in inclination by a screwed spindle 6. In operation, the rotation of the shaft 2, as the gun mounting is swung into operative position about the vertical axis 1, effects a downward movement of the sleeve 10 and a consequent tilting of the gun to the required angle.
