The figure shows the arrangement applied to a sledge-mounting which consists of runners b<1>, adjustable legs b pivoted at a, and a pivoted frame e supporting the gun. The elevating-gear proper consists of a shaft l carrying a hand - wheel k and a worm m, the latter engaging with a worm-sector n. The folding-lever h, f is interposed between the pivot of the wormsector n and the frame e, and the member h can be extended by loosening a joint i for the purpose of levelling the gun, the elevation for range being given by turning the hand-wheel k. The casing of the worm m is pivoted at x so that the worm may readily be disengaged from its worm-sector.
