[Class 27.] Tivoli billiards and like games ; coin action, with stationary coin forming abutment.-In a coin-controlled amusement machine where balls can rest on supporting means 17, Fig. 2, in holes 13 in a playing board 10, a coin 23, Fig. 3, inserted in a shoot 21 drops to a curved seating 22 at the bottom of the shoot and rests against a pin 24 on an operating member 25 which, when pulled out, actuates the supports 17 to release the balls. The member 25 is connected by a pivoted link 26 to a pull rod 27 and, in the absence of a coin, is prevented from being fully pulled out after a slight movement by a second pin 28 thereon engaging a stationary catch 29. When a coin is present, the pin 24 rides up its periphery thereby raising the pin 28 above the catch 29. During the return of the member 25 by a spring 30, the pin 24 forces the coin down to a money-box, while the pin 28 rides up an incline 35 to the operative side of the catch 29. During the last part of its outward movement, a pin 33 on the member 25 actuates a lever 32 to move the support 17. The support is an apertured plate or false bottom the holes in which are normally out of register with the holes 13 in the board 10. When it is actuated to bring the holes into register, the released balls drop through to an inclined platform 19 with the lower end of which co-operates a platform 20 that can be raised to bring them into play. The platform 20 is connected by a lever 31 to the member 25, so that it is lowered, when the member is pulled out, and raised on its return. In order to prevent return of the member 25, should it be inadvertently released before actuating the support 17, a catch 39 thereon engages, during its outward movement, with the flat face 38 of a pivoted spring-controlled pawl 36.
