Abstract

408,334. Boxes ; hinges. PETTICAN, J., 70, Iliffe Street, Walworth, and BARCLAY & FRY, Ltd., The Grove, Southwark, both in London. Oct. 12, 1932, No. 28455. [Class 65 (ii).] In metal boxes wherein the lid b and body a are provided with beaded edges, the lid is hinged to the body by means of tongues e which pass through openings e<1> in the lid and engage the lid beading. The tongues leave an uninterrupted beading on the upper edge of the body. The lid beading may be cut away so that the tongues can engage a wire contained in the lid beading. Bands of paper which pass round the outside of the body of the box and across the contents pass through openings in the lid flange and the openings produced in the body when the tongues e are cut out. According to the Provisional Specification, only the lid need have a beaded edge and the tongues may be formed by slitting down the body from its upper edge.
