Abstract

408,104. Rearing -appliances. STEPHENS, H. W., St. Leonards Court, Upton St. Leonards, near Gloucester. Mav 4, 1933, No. 13050. [Class 5 (ii).] An electric heating device secured centrally to the lid of a brooder, hover or like rearing appliance comprises an insulating base 16 supporting a plurality of electric heating elements 13, 14, 15 arranged side by side thereon, a pilot lamp 18 also forming part of the heating device and being carried by a support 19 fixed upon the insulating base 16, the parts being so disposed that the pilot lamp 18 in its operative position and when the lid is closed projects beneath the elements 13, 14, 15. Controlling switches 6, 7 carried on the lid, and a main switch 22 are arrangedas shown in Fig. 2 to provide four different supplies of heat. The elements 13, 14, 15 are protected by a mesh cover 17.
