[Class 130.] In a continuous-rod machine, the formers 11 and 17 are shaped to produce a cigarette rod of substantially square cross-section, for example with rounded corners, as indicated in Fig. 8, the sides of the square being slightly concaved by means of strips 18, 22, which are fitted friction-tight in grooves in the formers and adjusted by screws 23 as to the amount they project into the square section. This prevents the sides of the square from becoming convex when released from the formers.
