[Class 40 (i).] In an arrangement for stepping a number of switches in unison under the control of a master switch, the stepping of the master switch is controlled collectively by the switches. The magnets A ... D of the switches to be stepped are controlled by the master switch magnet M through the medium of a relay R. The energizing circuit of M includes normal contacts of A ... D in series, while its holding circuit includes normal contacts of A ... D in parallel, so that M cannot fall back until all these magnets operate. Thus failure of any of the magnets to energize or de-energize results in stoppage of the stepping operations. The switches are of the reversedrive type. If the master switch is remotely situated from the switches to be stepped, only two connecting wires are necessary, namely, those leading from the magnet M and from its contact.
