[Class 37.] A tuning-coil unit of the type comprising coils arranged in a metal screen of oval or similar elongated shape so that two sides of the screen lie close to the coils, has one or more additional coils arranged within the elongated portion and at right-angles to the existing coil. As shown coils 14, 15 are secured by bolts 16 to an extension of the former 12 carrying the coil 13. As an aerial coupling unit, the coils 13, 14 may each consist of primary and secondary sections. An intervalve coupling may comprise capacitative turns 17 on the coil 13, the coil 15 forming an anode choke coil. The screening can may be of rectangular cross-section and may be of cellular construction.
