Abstract

405,315. Ink. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London, RENDELL, L. P., and SCHARFF, G. E., Hexagon House, Blackley, Manchester. Aug. 2, 1932, No. 21693. [Class 146 (iii).] An ink for marking or printing textile fabrics and which will be unaffected by the reagents used in the various processes to which the fabrics are subsequently submitted comprises a stabilized rubber latex with a pigment in suspension, preferably with the addition of a small proportion of a hydrocarbon such as benzene, a filler being also added if necessary. The pigment, which is chosen to contrast with the colour of the fabric, may be colloidal china clay, which also acts as a filler, Monolite Yellow G, Monolite Fast Scarlet RN, Carbon black, Caledon Blue RC, or indigo, and in an example, china clay is ground into a paste with an aqueous solution of ammonium oleate, and a paste of Monolite Yellow G is added, the resultant mixture being mixed with rubber latex and stirred with benzene to form an emulsion. The composition may be applied by printing or by means of a collapsable tube, the end aperture of which is closed by a spring- pressed ball valve. The ink is not affected by dying the fabric, and can therefore be used for the production of multicolour effects.
