Abstract

405,310. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.- (Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag; 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm.) July 29, 1932, No. 21442. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1931. [Class 29.] Absorption machines and systems.-An absorption apparatus of the continuous cycle type is provided with a plurality of refrigerants adapted to be liquefied at different pressures in a corresponding number of independent condensers. In an apparatus employing two refrigerants, e.g. ammonia and isobutane, the ammonia is evolved in the generator 10 and passes through the rectifier 11 to the condenser 12 from which the condensate flows through a throttle valve 22 to the evaporator 13 containing the liquefied isobutane. The ammonia and the isobutane evaporate simultaneously and the mixed vapours flow through the pipe 23 to the absorber 14 wherein the ammonia is absorbed partly by the liquor in the bottom thereof and partly by the weak liquor flowing from the generator through the heat-exchanger 17 and the valved-pipe 26 to the top of the absorber, while the isobutane flows to the condenser 30 and returns liquefied to the evaporator. A circulating pump 15 is provided between the absorber and the heat exchanger. In a modification, the pump 15 is dispensed with and a compressor placed between the generator and the rectifier.
