Abstract
<PICT:0403139/III/1> In a process for regenerating used lubricating-oil, the oil is heated to remove volatile impurities, treated with a mixture of sal ammoniac and super cel and finally is filtered. Crank case oil passes through a pre-heating tank 1, to an evaporator 2 provided with steam coils 9. Vapours are drawn off through a pipe 10 by a pump 4 and pass to a condenser 5. The oil residue passes from the evaporator to one of a pair of treating tanks 12a in which it is heated and agitated with a mixture of equal parts of sal ammoniac and supercel. The purified oil is drawn off through a pipe 15 and passes through a series of filters 6 containing a fibrous material, to a separating tank 17, from which it flows through a steam jacketted filter 18 into a storage tank 24. Specifications 118,353, [Class 91, Oils &c.], and 366,071 are referred to.
