July 15, 1933, No. 20066. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1932. [Class 20 (iii).] Sponge rubber sealing strips of various sections are reinforced by means of attached or embedded strips of fabric, cardboard, metal or the like. Metal embedded in the strip is preferably in short lengths, and perforated narrow openings or grooves 5 are formed between the metal and the surface, Fig. 4. Metal perforated discs supported on removable pins may be embedded in the rubber, the pins leaving openings when removed. Alternatively, the strip may have fabric joined to its flat sides. The sponge rubber may be unmasticated and may be enclosed in a covering of thin coherent rubber.
