402,611. Medicines ; pills. AKTIESELSKABET FERROSAN, 72, Bligdamsvij, Copenhagen. Jan. 13, 1933, 1247. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1932. [Class 81 (i).] Molten mixtures of non- gelatinous substances, particularly those containing medicines, are solidified into small round bodies by allowing the material to fall in separate drops through a small height from a container 4 into an inert cooled liquid in a vessel 3, the specific gravity of the liquid being such that the drops sink slowly therethrough while - congealing. The container 4 has an overflow pipe 8 to maintain a constant level, and a jacket 6 enclosing heating means such as a pipe coil, and the drop forming means comprises a rotating shaft 9 having a transverse passage 14 adapted to register at each half revolution with openings 12, 13 in the base of the container and its jacket. The formed solids may be collected in the liquid in a removable strainer. As examples of medicines are given :-Oleum chenopidii anthelmintici mixed with hardened fat, molten drops of which are congealed in alcohol and water mixture ; and ergosterol, which has been activated antirachitically, melted with a fatty substance in a carbon dioxide atmosphere.
