L., 21, Oakleigh Park Drive, Leigh-on-Sea. May 25, 1932, No. 14877. [Class 40 (v).] A direction-finding or navigation system comprises a plurality of television transmitting stations including at least one master station A which generates and transmits synchronising signals and picture signals characteristic of the station, and at least one sub-station, which receives the synchronising signals and uses them to synchronise mechanism BND for transmitting picture signals characteristic of the sub-station. Neon tubes ANT1, ANT2, BNT1, BNT2 and extra spirals on the scanning- discs AND, BND monitor the local transmission and the signals from other stations. At a receiving station C, a directional receiver CTR builds up a television picture from received signals, and a non-directional receiver CSR receives synchronising signals to synchronise the mechanism CND which builds up the picture.
